Palomar Health becomes first certified health district
By Association of California Healthcare districts

In an impressive demonstration of commitment to ethical and sound business practices, Palomar Health became the first healthcare district in California to be designated as a Certified Healthcare District by the Association of California Healthcare Districts (ACHD). To be designated as a Certified Healthcare District, districts must demonstrate Best Practices in Governance that have been set forth by the ACHD Governance Committee. This ensures that public healthcare districts conduct business in a manner that is open and transparent for the benefit of the communities they serve. MORE.

a family's commitment to giving

In the Avila household, the spirit of giving runs deep. Norbert and Julie Avila, a husband and wife who are longtime Palomar Health employees believe in supporting their colleagues, community and the organization.

With the help of the Avilas, more than 800 employees and a generous donation made by Palomar Health Foundation Board of Director Harold Dokmo and his wife, Penny, a new chapel at the Palomar Medical Center became a reality. "It is more blessed to give than to receive,” Julie Avila said.

The Palomar Health Foundation wishes to thank its employees - employees like Norbert and Julie Avila - who collectively have raised more than $3 million! We are proud to say Palomar Health employees are among the most generous with a 78 percent giving participation rate.

grant spotlight: san marcos community foundation

Thank you to the San Marcos Community Foundation for its support of Palomar Health Forensic Services. The grant from the San Marcos Community Foundation helps raise awareness for the program's services.

Every day for the past 30 years, the staff of Palomar Health's Child Abuse (CAP) and Sexual Assault Response Team (SART)  have devoted their lives to caring for those most vulnerable in our community: children and victims who have been assaulted and abused.

Thanks to the generosity of individuals, organizations and foundations like the San Marcos Community Foundation, the program will continue to offer these services to victims in a quiet, safe, and comfortable place.
